About the Bee Lady...

Over the last 10 years, Shelley Rice (otherwise known as “The Bee Lady”) has gleaned a plethora amount of knowledge and experience from Bee keeping. Shelley loves ALL aspects of it, and it is truly her passion. She educates and brings awareness to the important role Bee’s have on our existence and planet.

Among the many bee related adventures, She also privately manages commercial and residential hives throughout the greater Houston area and surrounding counties, even as far out as Alpine Texas.

She is always striving to further her education in Bee keeping…You can often find her supporting and educating local non profit organizations along with the company of her hive crew (the Bees).

Shelley created and oversees the Lamar High school FFA Bee keeping program and also works very closely with Discovery Green and  McGovern Centennial Gardens in Hermann Park, managing their hives and presenting education to the public.

To keep up with the latest on bee keeping, Shelley has traveled to dozens of conferences and seminars, including one in Cuba. She plans to continue that trend throughout 2018.

This is her 7th year in presenting honey harvesting at the Central Texas Bee keeping School. This event is always one of the highlights of her calendar and She loves being apart of the close knit Texas Bee keeping community.

She is in good standing with Houston Bee keeping Association, Central Texas Beekeeping School, The Texas Beekeeping Association, Western Apicultural Society and the American Bee federation.
